France/Canada Gift-a-thon 2010

It’s that time of the year again, ladies and gents! We’re doing things a little differently, so be sure to click the cut below for information on this event!

So what’s going on here?:
Well, I don’t know about you, but I get crazy-busy this time of the year. So to make things a little more casual and fun, instead of doing a Secret Santa, we’re doing a Gift-a-thon!

That sounds neat…but what’s a Gift-a-thon?:
It’s a lot like aph_fluffathon and other fic-a-thons. It’s low-pressure, easygoing, and very, very fun. Here’s what happens:

1. You reply to this entry with prompt submissions (more on that later)
2. I put all the prompt submissions into another post. You then look around, find a prompt you like, reply to the post, and claim it.
3. You write/draw the prompt you picked.
4. ???
5. Profit of Franada goodness!

Unlike a Secret Santa, you aren’t guaranteed to get a “gift,” so to speak (meaning your prompts may or may not get claimed by someone), but you have more freedom of choice for what prompts you’d like, and really, with all the Franada love that will be going around, that’s a gift by itself!

Okay, got it! What other things do I need to know?

1. All prompts must be France/Canada. This is not a general fanwork-athon. It is for this lovely pairing, and their interaction and relationship should be what it’s all about. However, you are welcome to submit requests for young!Canada and France in a platonic relationship, but you shouldn’t include extraneous pairings for either France or Canada in that instance. Also, as I am wont to do, you are completely welcome to include other ships alongside France/Canada, just make sure Mattie and Francis are the focus. Rating, genre, and the like are all up to you.

2. How long do I have to submit my prompts? You’ll have from today, 10/25/10 to 11/08/10 (that’s about two weeks). The claim post should be up that Friday (Unless I get swamped with work, which is entirely possible.)

3. I’d really like to get involved…but I have trouble coming up with prompts. Can I still write or draw someone’s prompt? Absolutely!

4. I don’t think I have much of a talent as a fic writer or an artist, but I have this really awesome prompt idea. Can I still submit it? Of course you can. The more prompts, the better!

5. How many prompts can I claim? Can I claim my own prompt? Depending on how many prompts I receive, this can be anywhere from 1-3. I’ll have a better idea once I see how many prompts people are submitting. And as of now, you can’t claim your own prompt.

6. What are the requirements for Fic/Art? Fic of at least 1000 words. Art should be cleaned up and tidy. Fancomics and milti-part fics are wholeheartedly encouraged.

7. I have another question you haven’t answered. Okay, pm me here on LJ, comment on this entry, or e-mail me at mellybelle09@gmail.com. I don’t bite, I promise. Not unless you want me to.

This sounds awesome, I want to submit prompts now!
Okay, that’s great. Here’s some things you should know:

1. Don’t be too specific. Since this isn’t an exchange, things that are too specific will confuse/deter people who wish to fill your prompt. Here’s an example of a good request: I’d like to see France and Canada baking sugar cookies together, and then snuggling on the couch with coco afterwards. You can include some mentions of Us/Uk or Spain/Romano if you want, but no other side-pairings.

Bad request: I’d like to see France and Canada baking sugar cookies together, and there’s a blizzard outside, and then America and England come over. If they all get the kitchen a complete mess, that would be great. Also, if there’s smut somewhere, make sure France bottoms.

As a note, all prompts will be assumed to allow R-18 content unless you specify you don’t want it. So make sure if you don’t want smut in your prompt, you add a little “nothing over PG-13” at the end. If your requests are too broad or too specific, I’ll let you know.

2. Submit as many prompts as you want in the time frame. If you already submitted a few prompts, and then were struck by this other amazing idea, feel free to make another comment with it! You can submit as many prompts as you’d like between October 25th and November 8th

3. Please specify if you want your prompts to be fic only, art only, or can be used for both. Please try to vary it, however. We’re a medium-sized community with a lot of talented people, but too many art or too many fic prompts can jam the gears.
